Company history

Hermes Synchron GmbH was established in the year 1967 by author and director Ingo Hermes. The company was first located on the grounds of the former Geyer-Werke in Berlin-Neukoelln. Until way into the 1970’s, its field of activity mainly consisted of the dubbing of feature films for numerous German film distributors.

At the end of 1970, as the company experienced a higher growth-rate and the upcoming video-boom provided a surge in orders, the facilities were re-located to the CCC-Studios in Berlin-Haselhorst. There, the upward trend of the HERMES SYNCHRON continued, and along with the onset of the German private television it prospered to become one of Germany’s largest dubbing service provider.

Shortly after the German reunification, founder Ingo Hermes fulfilled a lifelong dream - and brought HERMES SYNCHRON back to his old schooling and education site: Medienstadt Potsdam-Babelsberg.

Here, the infrastructure for a modern dubbing company with 35 employees was created: on one floor with more than 1000 m² , holding three recording studios, one mixing stage, one sound transfer room, as well as 10 editing suites.

In 2005, as a further step in technical upgrading, Hermes Synchron began to invest in the trend-setting sound postproduction system ProTools. By now, the entire line of production (all recording studios, as well as the mixing studio and all editing suites) has been refitted to work with ProTools.

In March 2007 - 40 years after he had founded the Hermes Synchron GmbH - Ingo Hermes passed away at 78 years of age.
For several years now, this company is being run in the second generation by his son Jörg Hermes.
